Washington, D.C. ­– U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement on the Senate’s confirmation of Brenda Burman of Arizona to be the Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation, a federal agency under the U.S. Department of Interior:

“I am pleased that the Senate has confirmed Brenda Burman as the Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation. Brenda is a highly qualified individual to lead the federal government’s top water agency. She previously served as the Bureau’s Deputy Commissioner and as counsel to former Senator Jon Kyl one of the nation’s foremost experts on federal and tribal water law. Brenda makes history as the first female to lead the Bureau of Reclamation. I thank my colleagues for supporting her confirmation.”
