Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement today on the passing of Joe Woods:
“Cindy and I are saddened by the passing of Joe Woods, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to Joe’s family, his beloved wife Nina, his son, our dear friend, Grant, and his wife, Marlene, and Joe’s grandchildren and siblings.
“Joe Woods lived with a purpose greater than self-interest. He was a self-made man who became one of Mesa’s most prominent businessmen and influential civic leaders. He served his country in uniform, and he served his community – Mesa, the Valley of the Sun, and the state of Arizona – by generously devoting his time and support to civic and charitable causes too numerous to mention.
“Above all else, Joe was a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, a cherished brother, and a trusted friend. We will miss him. His loss will be grieved by his loved ones and many friends, and his memory will be revered by all those whose lives he touched and made better.”
