Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain today released the following statement on the results of Southern Arizona Defense Alliance’s (SADA) survey of the attitudes of the Southern Arizona community toward local military installations and the launch of their “Mission Strong” campaign:
“The Southern Arizona Defense Alliance’s (SADA) survey of Southern Arizonans reveals full support for the continued presence of the military in our local communities, a finding that comes as no surprise to those familiar with the region. For decades, installations like Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Fort Huachuca, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma and Yuma Proving Ground have played a critical role in supporting national security while strengthening our local economy.
“Thousands of service members and their families – including the active duty, Guard and Reserves – are our friends and neighbors, and we are privileged to host them. Community leaders have contributed greatly to making Tucson, Sierra Vista, Yuma and our surrounding cities and counties a welcoming place for the military. Their tireless support of our community has not gone unnoticed in Arizona or in Washington D.C. I fully support SADA’s continued efforts and look forward to working with all Southern Arizonans to make our region prosperous and our nation strong.”
